Is it just me? Or, as Americans, are we unanimously feeling jilted by GM?

Debuting later this year and set to go on sale nearly everywhere except the US in early 2012, company spokespeople reported to Inside Line that there are not currently any plans to offer up the new SUV to the U.S. market.
General Motors and The United States of America are two counterparts in a very public, long term and seemingly endless love affair. Like a celebrity couple we have watched the birth and near death of their relationship, celebrating their successes and mourning their struggles.
After such a long relationship, through even the most tumultuous of hardships, it's almost impossible not to feel a bit stung by this blatant rejection.
I'm opting to believe that this may be a new marketing approach for GM, (absence makes the demand grow stronger?), which may have been stolen from market manipulation geniuses like Google.
It's a risky move, as American consumers in the immediate market for a new SUV may be reluctant to play the 'wait and see' game with GM and just look elsewhere. In the long run, however, the lack of disclosure will most likely increase interest in U.S., increasing demand and eventually sales.
