Honda Civic Hatch. Outsmart the Wind.

TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – July 2, 2012: ‘Outsmart The Wind’ introduces Honda’s all-new Civic Hatch, and will air nationally this Sunday July 1.

The television commercial, titled ‘parachutes’ emphasizes the sleek, stylish and aerodynamic design of the Civic Hatch, presenting a world in which objects are restricted by parachutes, whilst the sleek Civic Hatch glides unrestricted through the city.

Honda Australia Marketing Manager, Mr. Kevin Lillie, is excited about Honda’s new spot; “With the Civic Hatch, Honda has created an incredibly stylish solution to wind resistance. In conjunction with DraftFCB, we have created a TV spot that talks about it in a similarly stylish way.”

Development for the new Civic Hatch spanned nearly four years, guided by a ‘clean dynamic’ design concept. This was inspired by a ‘blended body’ aeroplane, with wings that blend into the body for superior aerodynamic performance.

With the help of Formula 1 engineers, the design concept transferred to the new Civic Hatch’s seamless exterior and significantly improved aerodynamics. Managing airflow around and under the car, particularly through the inclusion of a bumper to bumper under-tray, the Civic Hatch delivers better fuel efficiency, greater stability at high speeds and an impressively quiet drive.

Improved aerodynamics have contributed to a ten percent improvement in fuel economy. The Civic Hatch now sips only 6.1 l/100km for the manual (combined urban/extra urban) and 6.5 l/100km for the automatic (combined urban/extra urban).

Honda is the world’s biggest engine manufacturer, a leader in automotive research and development and consistently rated a top performer in customer satisfaction. There are more than 400,000 Hondas on the road in Australia and millions of happy customers worldwide.
